What you can look forward to: a freshly painted yellow front door featuring our Michael Healy Crab Door Knocker, leading into a cozy lounge with solid oak flooring, a log burner, TV above, and a small dining area. The hand-built yellow kitchen is being carefully planned and will include an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave with all the kitchen essentials. Upstairs you’ll find a twin room and separate WC/WHB on the first floor, and a master double plus the main shower room with a spacious shower on the second. Outside, the patio will have new furniture to help you truly soak up those views.

Why we love Staithes 

Staithes has our hearts, and it didn’t take long for it to happen. The first time we wandered down the winding lanes and heard the beck before we even saw it, we knew this village was something special. Staithes has a proud history as a working fishing village, and you can still feel that spirit in the harbour and the way the cottages cling to the hillside. It’s also a place with creativity in its bones: artists have been drawn here for generations, and even now you’ll often see someone painting in the street, popping into the gallery, or capturing the changing light over the water. Add the village’s long connection to the RNLI, and it’s impossible not to admire the community and the sea-loving resilience that runs through it all.

What we love most, though, are the simple joys. Slow mornings on the beach, stepping stones across the beck, and afternoons spent crabbing in the harbour (it never gets old). There are lovely places to eat and drink, friendly pubs and cafes, and walks that start right from the door — especially along the Cleveland Way, where every turn seems to bring another “wow” view.

Staithes is also our favourite base for exploring: Runswick Bay, Sandsend and Goathland are all close enough for easy days out. But however far we roam, we’re always happiest coming back to Staithes.

And this cottage is a huge part of that. We fell for its position right on The Beck, it’s genuinely mesmerising. From the windows you can watch the beck meet the sea, see it shift from full and tumbling, to calm and almost empty at low tide. Ducks wander right up to the patio, the light changes by the hour, and you can sit with a glass of wine or a proper Yorkshire tea and watch the boats in the harbour. It’s our little front-row seat to everything we love about Staithes, and we’re so pleased to share our home with you.

About the Cottage

Tucked beside Staithes gently flowing beck, our charming three-storey cottage is made for slowing down, with uninterrupted views of the water from the living room and both bedrooms. It’s a warm, welcoming home for up to four guests across two comfortable bedrooms, ideal for couples, small families or friends. And on those crisp coastal days, the log burner turns the cottage into the cosiest place to come back to after the beach, the harbour, or a long walk.

The Space

Step into one of the most photographed houses in Staithes and settle into somewhere truly special.

Ground floor
The living room is cosy and inviting, with the glow of a log-burning fire and the beck right outside, a front-row seat to the sights and sounds of the village. Alongside it, you’ll find a beautifully crafted bespoke kitchen, fully equipped for everything from lazy breakfasts to home-cooked dinners.

First floor
A comfortable twin bedroom with two single beds sits on this level, along with a separate toilet for extra convenience.

Top floor
Upstairs is the master bedroom with a double bed, a peaceful retreat to end the day. This floor also includes the family bathroom with a large walk-in shower, perfect for washing off sandy feet or warming up after a coastal stroll.

Every level has been thoughtfully arranged to feel both charming and practical, a true home-from-home in the heart of Staithes.

And the best bit? Step outside to your own private patio right on the water’s edge. Pour a glass of wine or make a proper Yorkshire tea, watch the beck glide past (sometimes rushing, sometimes calm), and soak up the unmistakable atmosphere of this historic fishing village.
